St Cyril’s Spring

In the forest between Nowy Dwór and Münsterberg, at the height of 225 m above mean sea level, you will find St Cyril's Spring, flowing from a retaining wall with a semi-dome. At the beginning of the 19th Century, a shed and a refuge were built at the Spring; today, however, only foundations of the structures survive. The Spring is located on the red tourist trail from Münsterberg to Gromnik Hill and further to Strzelin.

According to the legend, King Bolesław Chrobry, marching with his troops on Bohemia, ordered for the local peasants to be christened in the Spring, and erected a castle and a monastery on the hill, laying foundation for the new town. This town was supposedly the Slavic Sambice, later incorporated as the town of Münsterberg, known today as Münsterberg.

St Cyril's Spring remains a popular walking destination for the inhabitants of Münsterberg and nearby villages.
