This modestly furnished church was erected in the years 1726–1730 on the site of the former commandery of the Knights of the Cross with the Red Star, established in 1270. The church and the hospital were built in front of the Breslau Gate, which no longer exists, and were held by the monks until Reformation when the Order left Münsterberg. The Knights of the Cross with the Red Star returned to the town at the beginning of the 18th Century and rebuilt both buildings in Baroque style which has survived to this day. Following the secularization of 1810, the buildings were turned into a warehouse and an inn. In 1866, the monastery and the church were reinstated by the Sisters of Saint Elizabeth. In 1948, the church was taken over by the Society of Christ Fathers in whose care it remains to this day. The monastery building houses the presbytery, and the former church of the Sisters of St Elizabeth now serves as a hospital and an outpatient clinic.
