Famous Boxers of Münsterberg

Marian Kasprzyk trained in the youth academy and represented the local “Sparta” Municipal Athletic Club. Kasprzyk won Olympic bronze in Rome in 1960, followed by Olympic gold in Tokyo in 1964. He used to be an outstanding boxer whose heart has always belonged to Münsterberg. To this day, Marian Kasprzyk lends his experience and skills to the local boxing club named "Lion's Den". He is also the Honorary Citizen of the Commune of Münsterberg.

Eryk Heimann is a boxing legend. Over the 22 years of his career he fought in 408 boxing matches. Heimann put on his first boxing gloves in the Münsterberg club “Spójnia”. He retired in the same club which then operated under the name of “Sparta” Municipal Athletics Club. Eryk Heimann fought for the boxing team managed by his father, Jan Heimann. For his fighting spirit and unquenched thirst for victory, the fans dubbed him “Bibi”.

Tadeusz Walasek was a Polish boxer, seven times Polish Champion, European Champion (1961) and two-time Olympic medallist (silver in Rome in 1960 and bronze in Tokyo in 1964). He was born in 1936 in Elżbiecin near Łomża. During World War II, he was deported to Siberia. In 1964, he settled down in Lower Silesia. Tadeusz Walasek represented the Münsterberg club “Sparta”. He fought in 421 boxing matches, with 378 wins, 9 draws and only 34 losses. He died in 2011.
